About the workshop: In this workshop, gain practical advice on teaching the components of spelling in an explicit and structured way. Learn how to connect spelling with sentence-level writing and respond to student learning needs based on objective, reliable and valid spelling error analysis data.

Content includes:

• Research on the teaching and learning of spelling
• Linguistics in spelling & using spelling error analysis to inform instruction
• Teaching the phonological component of spelling
• Teaching the orthographic component of spelling
• Teaching the morphological component of spelling
• Teaching cross-mapping skills (integrating various linguistic components)
