This interactive masterclass is aimed at secondary school teachers and support teachers seeking to support their students to improve spelling in the secondary school years. Registered attendees will learn about some of the key metalanguage required for explicit instruction in spelling. They will examine how error analysis can be used to design lessons tailored to student needs. Participants will have explored ways of integrating etymology where appropriate and considered how subject-specific vocabulary and texts can be used to teach spelling.

Links to the new Australian Curriculum and NSW English 7-10 syllabus will be made when illustrating some teaching and learning exemplars.
