In this practical workshop, learn about the what, why, when and how to implement ©Daffern’s cross-mapping task: a multiple linguistic lenses framework.
Build your confidence and capacity to effectively teach vocabulary and spelling using Daffern’s research-based framework for structured word analysis. Worked examples will be unpacked, and participants will be mentored as they complete and share their own word analysis task.

Explicitly teaching the components of spelling

In this 4-part practical course, build your pedagogical content knowledge to implement explicit spelling instruction using a multi-tiered system of support grounded in Triple Word Form Theory. Informed by Tessa’s extensive research on spelling, as well as her experiences as a Highly Accomplished Teacher, instructional coach, consultant and curriculum developer, this course provides examples of high-quality spelling instruction.

Dr Tessa Daffern offers online and/or face-to-face tailored professional development so that teachers can get the most out of the CoSTEY Dashboard and/or the CoST Dashboard.
Designed to suit your current school context, professional development workshops can either be used to refine your existing implementation across the school or to introduce teachers to an explicit, linguistic-focussed approach to spelling instruction using the CoSTEY Dashboard (for the first 3 years of school) and/or the CoST Dashboard (for Years 3 to 6, or for secondary school students requiring intervention).
